2020 saw OnePlus debut its OnePlus Nord line of devices. These are the first devices not to spot the top-tier Snapdragon 800 series chips.

As these devices come with a pretty decent price cut, it is only logical to expect OnePlus to skim off when it comes to support.

And yeah, something has to give. Recently, we saw reports that the OnePlus Nord N10 and Nord N100 devices are set to receive only one Android OS update.

Having been launched with OxygenOS 10, even at a time when OxygenOS 11 is already rolling out to some OnePlus devices, OnePlus Nord N users have the short end of the stick as OxygenOS 11 is all they’ll ever get.

Consequently, there has been a lot of confusion and uncertainty surrounding the state of Android software updates for the standard OnePlus Nord.

What is the fate of the OnePlus Nord in terms of software support? Is OnePlus planning to cheap out and offer users of this ‘budget’ OnePlus device a ‘budget’ software support and maintenance schedule?

Well, luckily it appears not. A forum moderator has come out to re-assure OnePlus Nord users that their units will enjoy the same software support schedule as the flagship OnePlus series.

According to a OnePlus community forum moderator;

The OnePlus Nord has the same maintenance schedule as the flagship OnePlus series.

But what is this schedule? Exactly how long is the OnePlus Nord going to get official support from OnePlus?

Well, in the OnePlus Nord release notes published back in July, OnePlus goes to state that;

Similar to OnePlus flagship devices, OnePlus Nord will receive two years of software updates and three years of security updates.

With that, OnePlus Nord users can rest easy knowing that while their devices will definitely get Android 11-based OxygenOS 11, it is also eligible for an update to Android 12.

Recently, we saw an unofficial OnePlus Android 11 roadmap that suggested OnePlus Nord would bag the update to OxygenOS 11 this November.

How true this report is remains to be seen. Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to be the first to know when the update drops.
