New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 04, 2020) follows:
Xiaomi’s MIUI is one of the most used custom skins across the globe. It offers a plethora of features, in-house apps, and even a System apps updater.
It is not feasible for ROMs and custom skins to be completely free from bugs and issues. However, issues can also occur from server side at times.
Something similar appears to be taking place in the Mi Community where multiple users are affected by an issue with MIUI System apps updater.
There are numerous reports on the Mi Community from users of various devices, including the Mi 8, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi 8, who are unable to update system apps.
While the issue seems to be preventing apps like Messaging and Xiaomi Health, a lot of users have mentioned the Wallpaper Carousel app as well.
Also, a Xiaomi Redmi 8 user has even reported that they were unable to download and install the latest MIUI 11-based October security update.
A feedback team member urged the user to install the update manually by downloading the Recovery ROM for the update version 11.0.3.0.QCNEUXM.
While the user was able to install the said update manually, the issue with the System apps updater is still persistent.
Nevertheless, a Mi Community super moderator has addressed this issue while asking users to try updating apps after some time.
The moderator has stated that MIUI System apps updater cannot be used to update apps for the time being due to a server issue.
This might mean that the issue is not specific to devices running MIUI 11 or MIUI 12 and has been triggered from the server side.
The update on apps from system apps updater is down for the moment. It’s a server issue. You can try again later to update.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our dedicated Xiaomi section as we have more such stories over there.
Update 1 (November 16)
