New updates are being added to the bottom of the story
Original story (from October 30) follows:
OnePlus Android 11 (OxygenOS 11) stable update is currently available only for the OnePlus 8 series while OnePlus 8T offers the latest OS out-of-the-box.
The latest OS update is yet to roll out to the highly acclaimed OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 7T series, OnePlus 7 series, OnePlus 6T, and OnePlus 6 devices.
However, the OEM has been quite ambiguous and silent as to when the rest of the eligible devices will start getting OxygenOS 11 (Android 11).
Now, some new development has taken place as an alleged timeline for the OnePlus Android 11 update has been shared on Twitter.
The shared roadmap outlines when all eligible devices will start to receive the latest OS update from OnePlus.
As per the alleged timeline, OnePlus Nord will start getting the OxygenOS 11 update in November 2020 followed by the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7 series in December 2020.
While OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 will start getting the update in 2021, the roadmap does not specify the month or quarter in which this is going to transpire.
This timeline does not come from an official source and OnePlus has not been overly vocal on the matter as well. Hence, the new details should be taken with a pinch of salt.
However, the OEM did confirm in mid-October that the OnePlus 7 series will get the OxygenOS 11 update in December which is also in sync with the shared timeline.
Since OnePlus has not yet provided any such information about the OnePlus 6, 6T, and Nord, it would be better to not keep high hopes with the alleged roadmap.
This is simply due to the fact that the OEM was relatively late with the latest OS update this year and the OnePlus 8 series bagged it one month after Google released the stable Android 11 update.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our OnePlus Android 11 (OxygenOS 11) update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic.
Update 1 (November 02)
IST 12:20 PM: As per an official post on OnePlus Chinese forums, the current Android 10 public beta for OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro would be the last, and the next public beta will be based on Android 11.
This is inline with this unofficial timeline we shared in this story above. So it looks like OnePlus is on track to deliver OxygenOS 11 to OnePlus 7 series users before the end of this year.
