OnePlus is one of the few companies that have managed to roll out an Android 11-based firmware to a section of its devices, at least in stable form.
The OnePlus 8 series of devices have recently bagged an update to OxygenOS 11, the company’s Android 11-based custom Android skin.
The obvious One UI inspiration notwithstanding, OxygenOS 11 is a pretty beautiful Android skin. A drastic departure from the company’s stock Android look but a welcome addition.
Sadly, though, and as is often the case with any new piece of software, there are bound to be a few bugs here and there and OxygenOS 11 is no different.
We have a dedicated OxygenOS 11 bug tracker and you can check it out here for more.
A section of users of OnePlus 8 devices have been facing an issue when using the Snapchat app on their devices following a recent OxygenOS 11 update.
According to affected users, part of the Snapchat app’s user interface overlaps with the device’s navigation bar, thereby rendering the buttons at the bottom of the app inaccessible.
This has led to many users getting stuck when trying to get certain app functions located in the overlapping area.
Got the Oxygen OS update to Android 11. How do I use snapchat with navigation buttons when the buttons are overlapped like this? Please fix this!
There are multiple reports online about this issue and as far as we know, it is affecting the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8T, and even the OnePlus 8 Pro.
When the issue was brought up in the official OnePlus community, a Staff Member goes on to say:
We have already updated our Developer team with your provided details for further investigation. Hence, requesting you to kindly look for the further updates.
Thanks & Regards,
Suhas.
Another OnePlus Community Expert is of the feeling that this could be due to an issue with the Snapchat app not being properly optimized for Android 11.
It is likely to be a snapchat app issue on Android 11.
AFAIK there is nothing you can do currently (other than change to nav bar).
suggest: report to Snapchat > https://support.snapchat.com/en-GB/i-need-help
also report to OnePlus via the bug report feature in the OnePlus Community app (tap the red + button and select Feedback, then choose bug report). It may be that they can force something to stop the app overdrawing.
Could this be a case of an app not being developed quickly enough to work well on a new version of Android?
Either way, it is a bug and it is afflicting users who have recently updated their devices to the latest version of Android.
That said, chances are that this will be fixed promptly and we shall be on hand to update you once this issue is fixed.
Should you want to ditch OxygenOS 11 and all its ‘bugginess’ in favor of the older, tried and tested OxygenOS 10, well, OnePlus has given users the option to do so.
