New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 28, 2020) follows:

OnePlus has completely revamped its skin over Android with the release of OxygenOS 11. Some fans love the redesign while some wish for OnePlus to bring back the old UI.

We highlighted most of the major changes that come with OxygenOS 11 here. And the most significant change comes in the form of the UI.

While it’s unlikely that OnePlus will revert back to using the previous design, the company is still open to taking feedback from users to improve the existing skin and even future OxygenOS versions.

A couple of weeks ago, we reported about a few new features such as a desktop mode, partial screenshot, and more that might make their way to users in future OxygenOS 11 builds.

This information was shared via the company’s interactive program dubbed IDEAS 2.0 and the features we highlighted were selected as part of round one.

Cut to now, the second round of IDEAS 2.0 has come to an end as well. Therefore, from hundreds of suggestions from users, the top seven most liked features have been rounded up.

These seven shortlisted features are as follows:

1. Separate volume for each app and allow dual media playback
2. Lockscreen customization
3. iOS 14 Back Tap Gestures
4. Preventing Screen Burn-In by Subtle Pixel Shifting
5. Wireless file transfer from PC to OnePlus and vice versa
6. Customizable Battery charge level
7. Dual audio in bluetooth

All seven of these features would indeed be pretty useful if they make their way over to a stable OxygenOS build.

OnePlus will be conducting internal discussions about the seven shortlisted ideas and would provide its views on all of them individually on November 6.

The customizable battery charge level is a feature that many Android phone owners are beginning to request.

Earlier, we covered that many OnePlus owners want to see the feature enabled on their devices and later we also found similar requests from Pixel owners. More on this here.

As for the Back Tap Gestures, Xiaomi also recently added the feature via an MIUI 12 beta update. Therefore, it would be nice to see OnePlus bringing the function to its phones as well.

For those who love to tinker with their phones, the ability to customize the lockscreen will be an added bonus.

Next, the option to play audio on two Bluetooth devices is also a handy feature that will let two individuals listen to music or watch a video without having to share a pair of earphones. Of course, there might be other usage scenarios.

The remaining options will also be useful to certain users depending on how they use their smartphones.

Needless to say, OnePlus does not guarantee that all seven features will be added to upcoming OxygenOS 11 or future versions.

We will continue tracking the situation and will post an update once more details emerge regarding OnePlus’ decision on whether either of the seven features will become a reality.

In case you think you have cool ideas for new features that you wish to see in OxygenOS 11 or the next OxygenOS version, the third round of IDEAS has also begun.

That said, OxygenOS 11 is only available for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. And other eligible devices may get the update within the following months.

But if for some reason you wish to jump back to OxygenOS 10 on your OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro, you can now do so since the official rollback builds are now available.
