New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on October 08, 2020) follows:
Android being an open source platform has opened a lot of avenues for OEMs like OnePlus, Xiaomi, and many more as well as individual developers.
A variety of aftermarket custom ROMs and official in-house custom skins clearly shows that Android is a highly customizable platform.
OxygenOS from OnePlus is a fine custom skin which offers a close-to-vanilla Android experience for the time being.
However, there are a couple of features that users feel the OEM should consider adding as doing so can help to preserve the battery health.
The two features are adjustable charging speeds and customizable battery charging level which OxygenOS currently lacks.
A lot of users are requesting for the adjustable charging speed feature so that they can go for either options as per their needs.
Basically, users are asking for an option that will allow them to choose between fast and slow charging as soon as they plug in their device.
This can be quite a handy feature as no one wants their device’s battery life to degrade sooner than expected.
Also, OnePlus users are asking for a feature that is commonly known as Smart Charging and many Android-based custom ROMs already offer this feature.
It ensures that the battery does not get charged after a specified level which further ensures battery longevity.
While OxygenOS currently lacks these features, OnePlus should consider adding them simply to prevent the battery from getting damaged.
That said, OnePlus, like other OEMs, is committed on delivering high-quality software, hence, we hope that these user requests are taken into account in the near future.
Moreover, the OEM is currently working on the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update and you can check out our dedicated tracker for the same to stay updated on the topic.
