New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on October 27, 2020) follows:
Android 11 is out and some major Android OEMs have even rolled out the stable version of the latest OS update. However, the likes of Motorola are way behind in the game.
Motorola has been pretty silent about its Android 11 update plans but this has always been the case with the OEM when it comes to major Android OS updates.
Now, some development has taken place which suggests that Motorola might have started working on the latest OS update.
The Motorola India Fans Twitter handle has tweeted that Motorola has started working with carrier and technology partners to develop Android 11 for its eligible devices.
While the information does not come from an official source, the Twitter handle is well known for providing credible information.
The latest generation of Android™ – Android 11 – has been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Motorola Mobility will be working with their technology and carrier partners to bring it to eligible devices.
Nevertheless, nothing is solid as the OEM has not made any official announcements on the matter yet which further means that the rollout is far from imminent for the time being.
Also, it is possible that Motorola might have already been working on the Android 11 update for quite some time but the information reached Motorola India Fans only now.
Either way, it is good that Motorola is working on the latest OS update for its eligible devices as it is a highly anticipated update for many.
Motorola has been quite slow with the Android 10 update for its eligible devices which makes us think how the OEM plans to proceed with Android 11.
Moreover, the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Realme are way ahead in the game as they have been steadily developing their in-house Android 11 updates.
Taking all this into consideration, we can only hope that Motorola provides some insight about its latest OS update soon.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide details once more information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our Motorola Android 11 update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic.
Furthermore, we have curated a consolidated Android 11 update tracker for all major OEMs and carriers so be sure to go through it as well.
Update 1 (October 30)
It seems that Motorola is indeed testing Android 11 on its devices. Apparently, the Moto G8 Power has been taken for a spin on Geekbench while running Android 11. We’ve shared a screenshot of the same below:
Thank you for the tip, pawel100g.
Update 2 (November 20)
To our surprise, it seems that Motorola has begun the Android 11 soak test for the Motorola Moto G8 Power. Therefore, a limited number of users will receive the update at random to test its stability before Motorola pushes it on a wider scale.
