The MIUI 12 brings several new changes and improvements to the user interface including a revamped Control Center. This time around, the Control Center is heavily inspired by Apple’s iOS.
Of course, many users prefer the iOS-like design while some are against it. But that’s a topic for another day.
What we can say for a fact is that Xiaomi does not mind steering far away from Google’s design language for Android.
That said, another fact is that the MIUI 12 update has introduced a bunch of bugs and issues as well. This has led us to create a dedicated tracker for all the bugs and issues found on devices that have bagged Xiaomi’s new skin.
And speaking of bugs and the new Control Center, we previously highlighted that Xiaomi had fixed the Control Center issue which resulted in it not displaying correctly while in landscape mode on the Redmi 9A.
Now, Xiaomi has rolled out new updates for the Xiaomi Mi 9T in Europe and the Redmi K20 in India. Both devices have bagged the October security patch through the updates.
However, another thing that has been fixed via the new software is the Control Center landscape mode issue.
Therefore, after installing this update, users should be able to view the Control Center in landscape mode without running into any problems.
The fix is arriving with the software version 12.0.3.0.QFJEUXM for the European variant of the Xiaomi Mi 9T and as version 12.0.5.0.QFJINXM for the Redmi K20 in India.
We have added the common changelog for both the devices below:
[Control center]
– Optimization: Control center layout in landscape mode
[System]
– Updated Android Security Patch to October 2020. Increased system security.
As you can tell from the changelog, there are no other fixes or improvements that come along.
But what we can take from this is that it’s highly likely that Xiaomi will optimize the landscape mode issue with the Control Center in MIUI 12 for other devices as well via the October security updates.
And if not via the October security update, it may arrive with future MIUI 12 builds for all affected devices.
Matter of fact, the problem was also addressed on the European variants of the Redmi Note 9S via the new MIUI 12 update. More on that here.
The patch should arrive over-the-air for your Xiaomi Mi 9T or Redmi K20 in a few hours or days if you have not yet received it yet.
However, if you aren’t willing to wait for it, we’ve got you covered. You can manually download the update for your respective device via the links below.
