OnePlus Red Cable Club sign-up notification issue troubles many users, workaround inside

OnePlus launched a special community program called the Red Cable Club last year, in which members can get exclusive perks and experiences. As a result, they are trying their best to advertise in order to attract members.

All seemed to be going well till some users reported to having Red Cable Club advertisement notifications that can’t be dismissed on their OnePlus devices:

The bigger issue with OnePlus phones in India is the permanent eyesore that is the Red Cable Club, which can neither be uninstalled nor disabled and won’t even let you turn off its notifications.

I always see India mentioned for this, but does anybody else from the UK have this?
Completely stock, have flashed custom ROMs before but reverted using the official download from the UK OnePlus.com site so in theory mine shouldn’t be different to anybody else’s, yet I have the same notification

Users did report earlier that they get notifications regarding this in the suggestions section on top of the settings application, which seemed fine.

However, having it on the notifications panel and not being able to dismiss it must feel irritating.

That being said, we went through the discussion and found a simple fix for this issue. You will firstly be required to download this tried and tested software and then install it on your Windows PC.

After that, enable USB Debugging on your phone which will be present as a toggle under developer settings. Connect your phone to the PC with a USB cable and run the “Minimal ADB and Fastboot” software you just installed.

Finally, paste the following command in the application window:
adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.oneplus.membership
And voila! The notification should immediately disappear.

If you do not want to carry out this process, then the simplest method is to sign up for the Red Cable Club. That should dismiss the notification as well.

As of now, almost all users that report this issue seem to reside in India. OnePlus also recently drew flak for adding bloatware like the Amazon and Netflix apps into their software via updates.

All this comes in the midst of the recently announced resignation of Carl Pei, the former co-founder of OnePlus. Does all this point towards a departure of OnePlus from their original strategies?
