Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro excessive battery drain issue after MIUI 12 update already reported to devs

Xiaomi’s current skin on top of Android, MIUI 12, has won a lot of praises from various quotas.

The pleasing aesthetics, Super Wallpapers, and even the iOS-inspired Control Center, all go to offer one of the most comprehensive custom Android skins in the market today.

That said, there’s no piece of software that is perfect. That’s the reason we have software updates in the first place.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 is no different. We have a dedicated MIUI 12 bug tracker and you can check it out for many of the issues that have been reported so far.

Xiaomi’s issues are further amplified, bearing in mind that the same MIUI 12 has to be ported and optimized for all eligible devices.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro was unveiled back in 2019 and it is in line for an update to MIUI 12. There’s been a lot of twists and turns surrounding this update and you can read more on that here.

At the time of writing, Redmi Note 8 Pro had bagged the MIUI 12 in all regions including China, Global, EU, Russia, India and Indonesia.

Sadly, the MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 8 Pro is not without issues. A section of users have been reporting rapid battery drains on the new firmware.

A few users are reporting the same issue when playing games on their device after the update to MIUI 12.

Having heavy battery draining problem (redmi note 8 pro) while playing game after updating to miui 12 please give me some tips and tricks.

As it turns out, this issue has been acknowledged and forwarded to the relevant teams. According to a Feedback team member on the Xiaomi Forum, this issue has been escalated to developers.
