The Chinese company is in its last leg of this rollout and reports suggested that the company was planning to wrap up this MIUI 12 deployment to eligible devices by end of October.

With that, devices that were set to get updated but hadn’t received MIUI 12 builds were set to get updated within this month.

These include models such as the Redmi Note 9S, Global Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi 9 (lancelot) among others.

The Redmi Note 8 also hasn’t bagged this update. We have detailed coverage of the twists and turns that have dogged the wait for MIUI 12 for this device and you can check that out here.

In summary, the Redmi Note 8 in China bagged this update to MIUI 12 back in September. In mid-September, we got word that the MIUI 12 for this device was undergoing tests.

A ray of hope came when reports surfaced that this update would hit the Global and Indian variants of the Redmi Note 8 sometime in mid-October.

But is it? It is the middle of October and once again, it is coming to light that owners of this device might have to wait even longer for this MIUI 12 update.

When asked by a user on the state of MIUI 12 for the Redmi Note 8, a Mi Community Forum moderator reveals that it could be a month before the update is rolled out.

seems like in a month if everything goes well.

This is disappointing news for the users who had been waiting anxiously for this update to hit their devices.

That said, Xiaomi seems to be actively working to release this update for other devices. The Redmi Note 9S has just bagged the MIUI 12 update in Europe so maybe it is just a matter of time before this update hits the Redmi Note 8 as well.

We shall be on hand to update this as and when we get more info so you might want to stay tuned to our dedicated Xiaomi section for that and more.
