NOTICE: We’ve created an archive of all major developments related to the Poco F1 smartphone and MIUI 12. We are continuously updating that page with the latest Pocophone F1 news so that you don’t need to search for information related to the device on a daily basis. Head here to access that page.

The Pocophone F1, which was sold as ‘Poco F1’ in India, is an absolute gem, even in the ongoing year of 2020.

The device made a lot of headlines back in 2018 when it launched because it packed the then flagship chip from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845 with equally high-end internals while undercutting similarly spec’d devices in price by up to a third.

The Pocophone F1 launched with Android 8 Oreo out of the box and has since been updated to Android 10 with Xiaomi’sown MIUI 11 on top. The ageing beast is in line for an update to MIUI 12 and that’s probably going to be the final major update it’ll get.

So what exactly is happening? Well, the road to MIUI 12 for Pocophone F1 users has been a rather bumpy one and from the look of things, the wait is still on and will continue to be for quite a while.

MIUI 12 was expected to hit the Pocophone F1 sometime in late July, but that was never to be as the update’s rollout got postponed by a week.

The update was postponed once more and this time, the moderators were bullish, asking users to stop asking about the update and that it would roll out when it was ready.

Come August 10, we finally saw a MIUI 12 build for the Pocophone F1/Poco F1. However, this build went out to the users in the Mi Pilot program only. And even then, this turned out to be a grossly watered-down version of MIUI 12 with so many features missing.

One of the most notable features that is missing from the initial Mi Pilot Program build of Poco F1 includes the fancy Super Wallpapers.

Today, many users of the Poco F1 are stick at MIUI 11 with build number 11.0.9.0 Stable and even users who thought they could manually install the Mi Pilot Program build of MIUI 12 on their devices have struck out as that build can no longer be downloaded by non-Mi Pilot users.

Frustration is mounting, tempers are flaring as users are increasingly growing restless over the seemingly endless wait for an update to MIUI 12 for the Pocophone F1. Even as that happens, Poco Support doesn’t seem to be offering users any solace.
