New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 18, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi really disrupted the smartphone market by bringing in the Pocophone F1 (known as Poco F1 in India) back in August 2018. The device featured all top-of-the-line specs carrying the price tag of a mid-ranger.

This really paved way for other OEMs to bring in great specs at a lower cost. If not that, it definitely improved the mid-range smartphone segment.

But, there was no sign of the next generation Poco phone and users were left hanging, until February, when suddenly, tons of news regarding the next Poco F2, which is actually the Poco X2, surfaced the internet.

And with so much hype created around the new POCO smartphone, finally, the POCO X2 was launched in India and the device packed a punch in the specs department (like the 120Hz display).

However, this also puts the Poco F1 users in jeopardy in terms of whether they will get regular updates or not. Let’s face it, the device was launched almost 2 years ago and the Poco F1 has been updated to Android 10 along with the February 2020 security patchset.

And still, the Poco F1 users are asking about the frequency of the update, which is pretty over the top, if you ask me.

Going by the recent development, as per a post in the official Mi community thread, when a user asked when is the Poco F1 phone going to get a new monthly update? A member of the device team stated that the frequency of the update will decrease as the device is almost 2 years old now.

There isn’t any official information regarding update next POCO F1 for now.
Please note that frequency of update might decrease since POCO F1 is now almost 2yrs old.

Moreover, in line with this, in another post, when a user asked about the timing of the new update, another member of the device team replied that there is no official ETA for the next update on the Poco F1.

We have got update just a month ago.
There isn’t any ETA on next update for now.

Poco f1 now ETA for updates

So, to summarize all of the above information, it is pretty clear that the Poco F1 or the Pocophone F1 users will not get regular updates from now on, and users can expect a bi-monthly or quarterly updates for the device.

Just a reminder, that these are not official information and we would advise our readers to take every information with a grain of salt until something official comes up.

Update 1 (October 15)

A moderator on the Mi Community forum has stated that the Poco F1 will get regular bug fixes and security patches, however, the frequency of updates will be reduced given that the device has now been out for over two years.
