New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 09, 2020) follows:

Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 (sold in India as the Poco F1) remains a solid device for anyone in the market for an affordable older flagship (if they can find one, that is).

The device launched back in 2018 and packed the very latest and top of the line internals at the time, all at a fraction of the price of similarly spec’d devices.

The device launched with Android 8 Oreo out of the box and has since been updated over the years to run Android 10 with MIUI 12 on top.

However, the road to MIUI 12 has not been without its fair share of drama, twists and turns. We have a detailed coverage of the events surrounding MIUI 12 for the Poco F1 here.

Back in early September, we saw the Poco F1 Global Beta Stable rolling out to random users for testing. This was followed by a rollout to MIUI 12 beta testers as version 12.0.1.0.QEJMIXM. More on that here.

This rollout was slow and many weeks later, countless users of the Pocophone F1 were yet to bag this update.

Well, in a rather interesting twist, Poco F1 users in the testing group have started receiving a new update, MIUI V12.0.2.0.QEJMIXM.

To recall, we’ve already seen a MIUI build 12.0.2 going out to the Russian variant of the Pocophone F1.

That said, it seems as though this build is going out to users running MIUI 12 and it bears the same MIUI 12 changelog we’ve seen before. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update if it rolls out to users stuck on MIUI 11.

See, MIUI 12 for the Pocophone F1 already had issues. We saw reports of overheating, missing features and more.

Could this V12.0.2.0 be coming to address these issues? Has Xiaomi been stalling the MIUI 12 rollout so that this new build could see a wider rollout? Well, all this remains to be seen.
