MIUI 12 has been rolling out to eligible devices over the course of the past few months. However, this rollout, like any other, has not been without issues.

Delays, buggy stable Betas and more delays have dogged this rollout from the very beginning, but Xiaomi has done a pretty decent job ironing out these.

We have a dedicated tracker for the MIUI 12 rollout so you might want to check that out for the status of this build for your device.

We also have a MIUI 12 bug tracker to keep tabs on all those little pesky issues you’re facing on your MIUI 12-powered device.

Today, we look at one more issue that’s afflicting users of Xiaomi devices running the latest MIUI 12 builds.

According to a section of users, they are unable to enter a space in the naming field on the contacts app.

A quick scroll through the social forums and you’re bound to come across countless reports of users being unable to correctly save contacts on their devices owing to this issue.

The users are all seeking for ways to get this issue resolved and have channeled their complaints to the forum moderators and developers.

At the time of writing, a Feedback Team member from Xiaomi had acknowledged this issue, stating that it’s being looked into by the developers.

“Kindly note that Bug no. 2 is already known and is reported to the developers.”

In the meantime, there might be a way to save your contact names correctly. As rightfully pointed out by a user on the same forum, adding a middle and last name to the contact seems to add the space when saving the contact name.

All you need to do is tap on the little expand icon and this will present you with additional fields into which you will need to enter the other names.

While this might seem like a non-issue, it can be rather frustrating, especially for users who are not savvy enough on their devices, like our older generation.

We can only hope that this issue gets addressed in subsequent updates. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more details so stay tuned for that.
