[Updated] Asus ROG Phone 3 auto-brightness issue to be fixed in future update; grainy screen & slow-charging mode issues being looked into

Asus’s Republic of Gamers has already released the third edition of their game-ready smartphone. The ROG Phone 3 is a powerful device which packs benchmark hardware and delivers excellent performance.

However, the ROG Phone 3 has been surrounded by a bunch of issues that are spoiling the user experience. It was reported earlier that users are facing the black crush and broken display rate issues. Reports of overheating issue also came up and an update was promised to address it.

Similarly, an update was also promised to fix the AeroActive Cooler 3 issue. While the OEM has released some updates for the ROG Phone 3, these and some more issues are still persistent. The first update brought a lot of fixes but some of the issues came to light after this update.

Another update was recently released but users are still facing issues related to auto-brightness, grainy screen, and slow charging mode. Users have been reporting that the screen brightness increases even when Adaptive Brightness is disabled and brightness level is set to 0.

Apart from this, several users are experiencing the grainy-screen issue which increases with the refresh rate. Moreover, some users have reported that the slow charging mode is not working properly as the device is charging at the same rate with or without enabling the slow charging mode.

A ZenTalk moderator has addressed these issues stating that the auto-brightness issue will be fixed in a future update. However, the moderator has stated that the grainy-screen and slow-charging mode issues are being looked into.

This is a bit disappointing for users of the ROG Phone 3 considering it is a gaming device and such issues are spoiling the user experience. While no ETA has been provided on when these issues will be fixed, there is still some hope as all the issues have been acknowledged.

IST 10:57 am: An Asus moderator has claimed that the bug resulting in the phone not charging and the black crush issues will be addressed via an FOTA update which is expected to rollout later this month. For more details, head here.

IST 01:30 pm: Asus has released the August security update for the ROG Phone 3 which also brings along a couple of fixes. The brightness issue when unlocking the phone and the broken refresh rate problem in low brightness have apparently been resolved according to the changelog.

IST 07:02 pm: A new update for the Asus ROG Phone 3 has enabled VoLTE and VoWiFi on the ICE network in Norway. Further, the update has also added the Bypass charging feature which powers the device directly via the charger instead of the battery to avoid heating. IST 06:06 pm: ROG Phone 3 users are encountering another bug which results in the phone being charged above the set limit when connected to the Twin View Dock.
