New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on October 06, 2020) follows:
Android 11 is out for a bunch of devices in the form of beta as well as stable versions. Among them, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.
The Open Beta program is live for the OnePlus 8 series and both devices can now be upgraded with the OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) Open Beta 2.
However, some users are unable to install apps from Amazon on their OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro units after installing the OxygenOS OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) Open Beta 2 build.
Also, there are even reports from users that indicate that this issue has been present at least since Android 11 Developer Preview 3.
Moreover, it is unclear what is causing this issue and why has it not been fixed by the OEM till now.
It has also been suggested that this issue is because of CTS verification failure which means that the OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 2 is rendering the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro uncertified on Google Play Store.
Basically, the devices in question are unable to pass SafetyNet tests with the Android 11-based beta updates, hence, users are unable to install Amazon apps.
It is unclear whether or not this is the reason behind this issue as the OEM has not made any announcements on the matter yet.
Nevertheless, it is only natural for beta updates to have such issues as they are not meant to be used as daily drivers.
Hopefully, OnePlus addresses all issues and releases the OxygenOS 11 stable update soon as it has been nearly a month since Android 11 came out.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide updates when more information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our OnePlus Android 11 (OxygenOS 11) update tracker to get the latest information on the topic.
