The MIUI 12 update has kept Xiaomi busy for the good part of the year while there are some devices that are still in the beta testing phase.
MIUI 12 was first announced in China back in April while the beta program also began soon after. However, some devices got the global MIUI 12 beta stable update by May-end.
While Xiaomi officially announced the global MIUI 12 update rollout schedule in the same month, the OEM is still struggling to deliver its latest custom skin.
It must be noted that MIUI 11 was announced way back in October 2019 and the beta update development was suspended by March 2020.
However, it has been over five months and the development of MIUI 12 is still on as the likes of Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 7, and many more are yet to bag the update.
The OEM has stated that all remaining Xiaomi devices are expected to get the MIUI 12 update by October-end but that might not transpire.
This is because Xiaomi has temporarily suspended the MIUI 12 beta update development in China till October 12 due to the National Day 2020 holidays.
This might mean that the OEM might continue with the development of MIUI 12 beta update for a little longer but nothing is confirmed as no official announcements have been made yet.
Xiaomi has been pretty slow with the MIUI 12 update rollout as compared to MIUI 11 for which the development stopped within five months of announcement.
It is understandable that MIUI 12 is a big update and Xiaomi has a huge portfolio of eligible devices, hence, the slower rollout window.
Nevertheless, OEMs should strive to deliver timely updates without compromising on the quality of software and Xiaomi is yet to achieve that feat.
That said, we will keep tracking the development of MIUI 12 and will provide updates when more information becomes available.
