Xiaomi has recently released the Redmi Note 8 Android 10-based MIUI 12 update in China after months of wait.
The update version V12.0.2.0.QCOCNXM brings along the latest custom skin on top of Android 10 which was under testing since March.
While the wait for the global variant is still on, users can expect the latest custom skin on their Redmi Note 8 soon.
A Mi Community moderator has recently hinted that the MIUI 12 update for the global Redmi Note 8 units might arrive by mid-October.
However, the moderator has only stated that there is a possibility that this might transpire so this information might be subject to change.
On the other hand, a MIUI 12 update timeline for a bunch of Xiaomi devices including the Redmi Note 8 has recently surfaced.
The information comes from the MIUI 12 Official channel on Telegram where a user has stated that the timeline has been provided by a Xiaomi developer.
As per the timeline, the latest custom skin for the Indian Redmi Note 8 variant is expected to arrive before October 10.
This information is somewhat in sync with the response from the Mi Community moderator but it must still be taken with a pinch of salt.
This is simply due to the fact that the MIUI 12 beta development has been temporarily suspended in China till October 12 due to the National Day 2020 holidays.
This suspension will definitely impact the overall software development and update schedule unless Xiaomi has some other tricks up its sleeve.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide updates as and when more information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to stay updated on the topic.
Moreover, Android 11 is already out and Xiaomi is also working on the latest OS update. So, be sure to check out our Xiaomi Android 11 update tracker as well.
Not all recent Redmi Note devices, Note 8 included, will be upgraded to Android 11. Typically, Xiaomi rolls out one OS update to devices in this family, something we strongly believe should change going forward. You can also let us know what you think by heading over here.
Nevertheless, Android 11 is unofficially available for the Redmi Note 8 in the form of custom ROM so be sure to go through this story if you are into modding.
