New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on Oct. 01, 2020) follows:
MIUI 12 continues to steadily roll out to eligible devices with reports that the company plans to wind up this rollout by the end of October.
Even then, a few devices that are still eligible for an update to MIUI 12 are yet to bag this much-awaited update. We have a dedicated MIUI 12 tracker to keep tabs on this rollout.
For some of these devices that haven’t been updated yet, we’ve received word from the company over what the hold up might be about.
For most of these, it all boils down to the fact that they don’t have a Chinese equivalent.
We’ve delved deep into the twist and turns that have dogged users of devices such as the Redmi Note 8/8T, Poco M2 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 7/7S/7 Pro just to mention a few, with regards to their respective updates to MIUI 12.
Well, it seems as though users of some of these mentioned devices might be in luck. This, thanks to a message on a MIUI 12 community forum on Telegram.
The unofficial message goes to give an alleged timeline for when MIUI 12 is going to be rolled out to a few devices including the:
– Redmi Note 8,
– Redmi Note 7,
– Redmi 9,
– Redmi 8,
– Redmi 7,
– Redmi 6 &
– Poco M2
The message goes to suggest that the MIUI 12 update timeline to the above-mentioned devices is as follows:
– Redmi Note 7/8 – before October 10
– Redmi 9 Prime/Poco M2 – before October 15
– Redmi 8 series – before October 22
– Redmi 7 series – before October 25
– Redmi 6 – Before October 30
Of course, this is not by any means, an official communication so take this with a pinch of salt.
But even then, this timeline lists Redmi Note 8 before October 10. We’ve already seen the Redmi Note 8 bag this update in China. This means that we could very well see a wider rollout before October 10.
That said, if indeed this turns out to be correct, it might be in line with previous communication suggesting an end-October completion of MIUI 12 rollout.
Update 1 (October 15)
It now appears that Xiaomi has begun rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 9 Prime (Redmi 9) in India according to a Mi Community Feedback Team member. However, it’s only available to a limited number of users. See more details here.
