Original story (published on August 27) follows:

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is in line to receive the company’s latest skin dubbed MIUI 12. It was released in India exclusively a few months ago and is currently one of the most popular devices in the affordable to mid-range Indian smartphone market.

Xiaomi first announced the MIUI 12 skin back in China and has since then started rolling out the update for eligible devices. Typically, the company releases system updates for the Chinese handsets first after which it makes its way over to other regions.

This is the case with the MIUI 12 rollout as well. For example, devices such as the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 have bagged the update in China but it’s yet to be rolled out in other regions.

Unfortunately, it appears that the company has neglected devices that do not have a Chinese counterpart. The Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9S are perfect examples of this. Neither of the two devices have got the MIUI 12 update, not even in beta form.

And it appears that the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is also suffering the same fate. The company recently revealed its roadmap for the MIUI 12 rollout in India but there is no mention of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Naturally, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max users are now beginning to wonder when Xiaomi will be releasing the new skin for the device. Thus, several users are now taking to Twitter and the Mi Community to seek a response from Xiaomi on the matter. We’ve added a few (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) reports below:

Moreover, Xiaomi has also not made any official comments on the MIUI 12 rollout for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. This leads us to believe that the device may not receive the update any time soon. Although, this can change at any moment.
