Xiaomi has been constantly working on fine-tuning its latest custom skin with the development of MIUI 12 beta updates.
While many Xiaomi devices have already bagged the latest custom skin, all remaining Xiaomi devices are expected to get the same by October-end presumably as part of the third batch.
The OEM released the MIUI 12 beta update version 20.9.29 yesterday with a bunch of improvements and some new features.
The latest beta update brings along the ad filtering feature to the Browser app which blocks malicious pop-ups and advertisements.
Also, the In-app search module has been added which means that users will not have to switch between apps anymore.
New: Web ad filtering and malicious pop-ups in some scenarios
New: In-app search module to reduce the complicated operation of APP switching, and the operation is in place in one step
Apart from that, the Browser also gets the bookmark function, memory usage stats, and customization control buttons for home page.
There are more optimizations to fetch smarter search results while some known issues have been fixed to optimize the overall user experience.
This clearly indicates that Xiaomi intends to deliver a much more refined platform to its consumers with MIUI 12 and upcoming stable update versions might include these improvements and features.
Optimization: Bookmark function to solve the problem of page jam and invalid search
New: Memory usage
New: Home page function control buttons to customize your personalized home page
Optimization: Fix known issues and optimize user experience
Optimization: Search results are smarter and richer, providing you with the most comprehensive native search results
However, the latest update version 20.9.29 was not released for the Redmi Note 7 due to a bug that prevented the device from booting after the update. More on that here.
Moreover, the development of the MIUI 12 beta updates has been suspended till October 12 due to National Day 2020 holidays in China.
It must be noted that Xiaomi is also working on Android 11 and this temporary suspension of MIUI 12 beta will definitely affect the global Xiaomi software update development.
That said, we will closely follow the development of MIUI 12 and will provide updates as and when new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to know all the relevant details about the latest custom skin from Xiaomi.
Furthermore, we also have a Xiaomi Android 11 update tracker so be sure to go through it as well.
