Looking back, the OnePlus 7 series of devices received Android 10 within 20 days of the official release. Could OnePlus be planning to do it again with the current OnePlus 8 devices? XDA Developer’s Editor-in-Chief certainly thinks so.

While we haven’t received any official communication from OnePlus on the same, it is certainly implied and users of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro should be on the lookout for this looming update.

In other OnePlus news, the company is calling upon users of the OnePlus Nord who want to participate in the Closed Beta Program for upcoming software builds.

OnePlus Nord has not been without issues (1, 2) in its first few months of being available in the market. These issues need to be addressed ASAP and hence the need for the Closed Beta program.

Also, with the above-mentioned call for Closed Beta participants, OnePlus could as well be planning to start testing Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 for OnePlus Nord.

This would also make sense seeing as the Nord is the newest OnePlus device and as such, should be first in line for an update to OxygenOS 11, beating older flagships to this.

This time around, OnePlus will be accepting 200 people into this Closed Beta Program, the highest number ever. This should then be followed by an Open Beta program, then the official release.

We have a dedicated OxygenOS 11 tracker so you might want to keep an eye on that for more on what OnePlus is doing in line with its upcoming Android 11 update.
