Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 is out for a lot of devices but things have been a bit slower with the likes of Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 8, and Redmi Note 9S, among others.
The Redmi Note 7 received the stable version of the latest custom skin in China followed by the beta stable update for select Indian Redmi Note 7 users back in July.
The latest custom skin has been under testing for the device in question ever since and general users are still waiting.
Now, it seems that the wait is about to get an extension as the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 beta update has been suspended once again.
The information comes from the Xiaomi & MIUI News channel on Telegram where the update announcement post clearly states that the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 beta update is suspended.
The release of Redmi Note 7 is suspended today due to the problem of being unable to boot after upgrading under certain circumstances.
Also, the reason behind this suspension is a bug that prevents the device from booting after updating with the latest beta.
It must be noted that the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12 beta development had faced similar hiccups in the past due to stability issues.
Moreover, it is unclear when the device in question will get the MIUI 12 stable update on a larger scale as the development of the latest custom skin will be suspended in China.
Furthermore, the suspension of the beta development will further impact the Xiaomi software update schedule on a global level.
That said, we will keep tracking the development of the Redmi Note 7 and will provide updates as and when new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to stay updated on the topic as a bunch of Xiaomi devices are yet to bag the latest custom skin in the third batch.
While Xiaomi currently provides the Redmi Note series with just one OS update, we feel that all devices in the series deserve at least two. Check out this story and let us know your opinion on the matter.
Nevertheless, Android 11 update is unofficially available for the Redmi Note 7 in the form of custom ROM. More on that here.
