Poco X3 Android 11 update confirmed, Android 12 uncertain

The Poco X3 is arguably one of the best smartphones for its price. It comes with the brand new Snapdragon 732G processor with 6 GB RAM and up to 128 GB internal storage.

Further, the storage is expandable via an SD card to 512 GB. The device also has an FHD+ 120Hz refresh rate display with a massive 6000mAh battery that should easily last a day and then some.

And since it’s new to the market, it also comes with MIUI 12 pre-installed on top of Android 10. Of course, having Android 11 out-of-the-box would be a sweet deal but we’re not complaining.

Speaking of which, Google released the stable Android 11 update for its Pixel devices early this month. No other OEM has released the stable update for their devices, yet.

However, Xiaomi did roll out the Android 11 beta update for selected users with the Global variants of the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Poco F2 Pro. And while the beta testing continues, many Xiaomi device owners are beginning to wonder whether their device is eligible for the Android 11 update.

Further, even though the Poco X3 is yet to go on sale, it seems that interested buyers are already beginning to ask the question. In the second session of #POCOAMA on YouTube, towards the 03:25 minute mark, Anuj Sharma and Manmohan Chandolu answer the question.

According to the duo, the Poco X3 will indeed get the Android 11 update. However, the good news ends there since Anuj Sharma goes on to mention that it’s too early to tell whether the device will a major Android update after Android 11.

While it is certainly too early to share any details, this answer does not instill confidence as well. Moreover, Xiaomi tends to release only one major Android update for its affordable offerings.

Matter of fact, the immensely popular Redmi Note 8 series have also been dropped for the update to Android 11 which has left many users frustrated with the company.

Therefore, if Poco follows the same trend, it does seem that the Poco X3 will get only one major Android update, that it, the update to Android 11. But take this information with a grain of salt since the next version of Android is far away.
