Xiaomi and Realme have already come a long way with the development of their respective Android 11-based OS updates.

Realme has started the Realme UI 2.0 update early access recruitment for Realme X50 Pro and Realme X50 Pro Player Edition yesterday.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, has provided the Android 11-based MIUI 12 update to the Mi 10 series and Redmi K30 Pro in China.

It is only natural of OEMs to deliver the latest OS and custom skin updates to their premium devices with high-end specs.

Older devices usually get these updates at a later point and software support is even dropped by the OEMs for some older devices.

Some Realme devices like Realme XT are scheduled to get the Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 update in the second quarter of 2021.

However, Xiaomi has not shared such update plans for the likes of Redmi Note 7. This is where the Android aftermarket software support comes into the picture for such devices.

Modders and developers have already come up with the Android 11-based custom ROMs for many devices including the Realme XT and Redmi Note 7.

Senior XDA Developers Members, letsmakecakes and kaderbava, have developed Android 11-based Weeb Projekt and RevengeOS 4.0-R for the Redmi Note 7 and Realme XT respectively.

While both custom ROMs are in their early stages of development, the status of the Weeb Project is classified as beta while RevengeOS 4.0-R is in Alpha testing stage.

This means that there is still a lot of fine-tuning required before both ROMs can be used as daily drivers. Nevertheless, those who wish to try these custom ROMs on their Realme XT or Redmi Note 7 can download them from the links given below:

  • Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
  • Codename: lavender
  • Channel: Beta
  • Version: Weeb Projekt 1.3
  • Android: 11
    • Type: Recovery
  • Device: Realme XT
  • Codename: RMX1921
  • Channel: Beta
  • Version: RevengeOS 4.0-R
  • Android: 11
    • Type: Recovery

It must be noted that these ROMs are not stable and can not be used as daily drivers so flash them only if you absolutely want to try them out.

Nevertheless, it is good to see that early builds of Android 11-based custom ROMs are already available for older devices.
