Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 is indeed a major update and like all major updates the MIUI 12 update also has some bugs and issues.

It was reported in early August that the MIUI 12 update brought a bug related to the status bar notification shade on Xiaomi Mi 9T and a fix was expected in a future build.

Now, another MIUI 12 issue has been spoiling user experience with multiple reports of users with different Xiaomi devices doing rounds on the Mi Community.

The issue is related to Google Assistant which gets broken when the Dark Mode is enabled. Also, users have been reporting that they experienced this issue only after updating their devices with MIUI 12.

As per a Mi 8 Lite user, the Google Assistant UI stays half light even after enabling the Dark Mode on MIUI 12 version 12.0.3.0.QDTMIXM.

A Mi Community moderator has acknowledged the MIUI 12 update Google Assistant bug and has also stated that it is a known bug which is present on other devices as well.

Also, the moderator has mentioned that they are experiencing this issue on their Xiaomi Mi 9 and it is only present on the Google app.

This means that a fix should arrive in a future MIUI 12 update and the same has been stated by the Mi Community moderator.

It’s a known bug and is reported in other devices too. My Mi 9 has the same issue and many other devices too. Apparently it’s an issue with only the Google app, so hopefully it can be fixed in upcoming builds. Do send a bug report via the Feedback app.

It must be noted that there are many bugs and issues in the MIUI 12 update. While some of these issues are common for several devices, some like the Mi MIX 3 5G network issue, are device specific.

Another thing to note is that the development of the MIUI 12 beta update for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 7 was also postponed due to stability issues in late August.

It is understandable that major updates usually have bugs and issues that are fixed in subsequent builds but the development of MIUI 12 has been quite rough.

We recently reported that the MIUI 12 beta update development will be temporarily suspended from September 30 till October 12.

This will also impact the implementation of bug-fixes for all existing bugs and issues including the Google Assistant Dark Mode issue.
