This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on September 16, 2020) follows:
Xiaomi has recently wrapped up the second round of the MIUI 12 update rollout schedule. While many devices received the latest custom skin in this round, the likes of Redmi Note 8 and 8T are now expected to bag the MIUI 12 update in the third round.
It must be noted that the OEM recently postponed the MIUI 12 beta update for the Redmi Note 8 because of stability issues. Users of the Redmi Note 8 have been waiting to get MIUI 12 since a long time but it seems that some development is indeed taking place.
Recent reports suggest that the Redmi Note 8 might soon get the MIUI 12 update. The information comes from the Mi community where a Redmi Note 8 user asked about the update and a moderator asked the user to wait for the weekly beta program to get completed.
Wait for the Weekly Beta to be done.
While the reply from the moderator is not much of a confirmation, some new information makes it look like one.
It was reported earlier that the Redmi Note 8T will get the Android 10 update but no ETA was provided. The Redmi Note 8T MIUI 12 update story is more or less similar.
Another user asked about the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8T and the same moderator stated that there is no ETA for it.
This clearly indicates that development of the Redmi Note 8 is ahead compared to that of the Redmi Note 8T.
For 8T there no ETA for that.
However, the OEM has not provided any official information on the matter, hence, this is still based on our speculation. Hopefully, Xiaomi provides the latest custom skin to both devices soon as it has been quite a long time.
That said, we will provide updates once more information becomes available. Meanwhile, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to stay updated on the topic.
Also, be sure to go through our Xiaomi Android 10 update tracker to know when it arrives on the Redmi Note 8T.
Update 1 (September 17)
IST 12:29 pm: Redmi Note 8 users may be disappointed to know that Xiaomi has released a new update for the device but it does not bring MIUI 12 or even Android 10 for that matter. It’s an MIUI 11-based August security update. More details here.
