Launched back in June 2019, the Xiaomi Mi 9T represented the company’s classic specs to price ratio, becoming a favorite for most people looking to score decent specs but not willing to break the bank for that.

The Mi 9T is powered by the Snapdragon 730 chip, paired with 6GB of RAM and ample internal storage. The device ran Android 9 Pie out of the box and has since been updated adequately. At the time of writing, the device had bagged both Android 10 and the company’s own MIUI 12.

The former update which came to the devices earlier in the year, was not without issues. Soon after the update dropped, users started reporting issues with their devices, most notably, unexplainable battery drains.

Many months later and still, the issue continues to afflict users of the Mi 9T. A quick scroll through the community forums and you’re bound to come across users (1, 2, 3) who are still lamenting to Xiaomi about this issue.

While responding to one of such user comments, a Mi Community Forum Moderator confirms that indeed, the issue is know.

This is a known issue, and we all awaiting the related update especially for Android 10.

Understandably, this comment does not sit well with users of the Mi 9T who have waited for many months for this fix to come to their devices. One frustrated user says:

This is a known issue for 1 whole year now…there are so many posts and feedback submits and nothing happens. What else can we do except from patience? I understand if they need more than 1 month to fix a battery drain…but for 1 whole year..this is unacceptable. It just seems that they don’t care about fixing it…

We can only hope that this long-standing issue gets to be addressed once and for all. Will affected users have to wait for an update to Android 11 to get this issue fixed? We can only wait and see.
