This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on September 02) follows:

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 released with Android 9 with MIUI 11 on top and has been in line to receive the MIUI 12 and Android 10 updates. Google released Android 10 back in 2019 a little before the Redmi Note 8 was released.

However, Xiaomi chose to launch the device with the dated Android 9 software. And towards the tail end of April, the Chinese OEM unveiled its new MIUI 12 skin in China. Unlike the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the standard Note 8 was not part of the first batch of devices.

Therefore, Redmi Note 8 users have been waiting a long time to get the update to Android 10 and it appears that they will have to do the same for the MIUI 12 rollout. We also highlighted this while talking about the MIUI 12 status for the device.

On March 19, we reported that the Android 10 update for the device was being tested. And roughly two months later, it came to our attention that Xiaomi released Android 10 for the Redmi Note 8 but it suspended it soon after.

Cut to now, it appears that Redmi Note 8 users will have to continue waiting for the Android 10 and MIUI 12 updates to begin rolling out. This is because a Mi Community moderator responded to a Redmi Note 8 user’s query stating the following:

For MIUI12 and Android 10 you might need to wait.

Since the moderator’s comment does not even include an ETA or even a word such as ‘soon’, it suggests that neither of the two updates will be rolling out anytime soon. This means that the indefinite wait will go on.

As usual, we will keep track of the Android 10 and MIUI 12 rollout for the device. Thus, keep an eye our on our dedicated trackers for the Android 10 and MIUI 12 rollout for Xiaomi devices.
