Android 10 update for Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 & Nokia 5.1 not in sight as Pie-based August patch rolls out (Download link inside)

Nokia devices have one unique selling point, they run a near-stock version of Android with little in form of bloatware or gimmicks, all thanks to the Android One Program.

Another promise of the Android One program is regular and timely security updates. This promptness is also expected for new Android version updates for devices that are eligible. However, that hasn’t always been the case.

We are a few weeks away from the official unveiling of Android 11 and still, there are a number of Nokia devices that have not been updated to Android 10.

Some of these devices include the Nokia 3.1 Plus, the Nokia 3.1, and the Nokia 5.1. We have covered at great length, the status of Android 10 for many of these devices and you can check out our coverage of the same for the Nokia 3.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1.

Today, much to the dismay of hopeful Nokia users, these devices are being treated to yet another update, only not the one they’re desperately longing for. The Nokia 3.1, 3.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 are today bagging the August 2020 security patch.

True to what we’ve come to expect from security updates from Nokia, these builds come with little more than an updated security patch level, at least according to the changelogs.

It remains unclear when Nokia plans to roll out Android 10 to these devices. For now, users of the Nokia 3.1, 3.1 Plus, and Nokia 5.1 can only hope that with this August patch, their devices inch a little closer to the Android 10 update.
