This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (from August 31) follows:
LG is not a name you’d want top of your list when shopping for an Android smartphone that promises timely software updates. On the flip side, the Korean company is one that almost certainly delivers all required updates to its devices, albeit quite late compared to the competition.
The LG V40 ThinQ, for instance, is just receiving the update to LG UX 9.0 based on Android 10 in India. The update comes at a time when equally premium 2018 flagships from other vendors like Samsung, OnePlus, Sony, Nokia, Xiaomi, Oppo and even Vivo have already picked up the update.
But as often said, better late than never. And LG V40 ThinQ fans in India will be glad to learn that after the long wait, they can finally bag the relatively new Android 10 update on their devices, just in time for the release of the stable Android 11 update for Google Pixel phones.
The update, according to a Redditor who has been able to install it, is currently available to download via the LG Bridge. This, unfortunately, also means that the OTA update is not yet available, but it shouldn’t take long to show up on your unit.
Just so you know, this is not the first time the LG V40 ThinQ is receiving an update to Android 10. The device already bagged the firmware in other markets across Europe and the U.S., with India only joining the party.
This is the second and last major OS upgrade for the LG V40 ThinQ. On the brighter side, the V40 is also among the few devices expected to bag the latest Velvet UI skin from LG, but there is no ETA.
Of course, you can keep an eye on our Velvet UI update tracker to get notified when the update arrives.
Update 1 (Septembet 19)
While some devices have already received the android 10 update, LG India has now shared that LG V40 ThinQ devices in India will start receiving Android 10 from October 07. It appears the are talking about the wider rollout here.
Update 2 (October 23)
LG has now begun rolling out the Android 10 OTA update for the LG V40 ThinQ in India. The update is available as version V30a. Of course, this is a bit later than expected. More details here.
