Original story (published on August 25, 2020) follows:

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 was released in 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The smartphone already received the Android 9 Pie update but the wait is still on for Android 10 as it has been more than six months since the first beta came out.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone Max Pro M2 have received multiple Android 10 beta updates which might look good. However, regular users cannot make do with beta updates simply because they are not meant to be used as daily drivers.

The two years old ZenFone Max Pro M1 is still a powerful device and the beta updates certainly indicate that the OS upgrade might be imminent. But now it seems that might not be the case and users may have to give up all hopes for the Android 10 update.

As per a recent report, the OEM is planning to drop support for the ZenFone Max Pro M1. The information comes from a conversation between a user and an Asus Russia technical support representative.

The executive clearly states that no more updates are expected for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 because its support is ending. If this is true, it would negate all efforts made by the OEM with the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 betas.

Dear user of ASUS products,
You are well aware that the beta version with Android 10 is available on the site. unfortunately, nothing more is expected for the model, its support is ending.

However, this must be taken with a pinch of salt as Asus has not made any official announcements on the matter yet. Moreover, no OEM would go so far with the beta update program if they do not intend to release a stable version of the software.

While it is unclear whether the OEM is ending support for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 or not, we would like to believe that the device might get the much awaited OS update. That said, we will keep tracking this for any developments and will provide updates when more information becomes available.
