According to data from IDC, in Q1 2020, Huawei was the second-largest smartphone vendor on the world, only second to the Korean tech giant, Samsung. The embattled Chinese OEM managed to beat the likes of Apple, Xiaomi, and Vivo who took the third, fourth, and fifth positions respectively, making up the 5 biggest smartphone vendors in the world today.
Huawei’s current woes with the US government notwithstanding, the company is committed to providing users of its devices with a decent smartphone experience with regular updates and bug fixes.
Back in May, we saw Huawei rolling out EMUI 10.1 to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Honor View30 and Honor View30 Pro 5G. Since then, more and more devices have been able to bag this update and you can check out our dedicated tracker of the same.
Sticking to the same pace of the rollout, Huawei is today adding one more device to its list of updated devices in form of the Huawei P30 Pro in India. To recall, we have already seen the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro bag an update to EMUI 10.1 globally.
This update with software version number 10.1.0.146 (C675E6R1P4), goes out to Indian users of the Huawei P30 Pro running the latest software version number 10.0.0.210 (C675E4R1P4). The update brings to this device many of the changes we expect from EMUI 10.1 including Huawei’s MeeTime video, Huawei Share, plenty of new themes, wallpapers and tweaks around the OS.
This update is rolling out as an OTA and as such, users of the P30 Pro in India should sit tight and look forward to this update notification on their devices.
Even as Indian users of the P30 Pro look forward to that update to EMUI 10.1, Huawei is kickstarting Beta recruitment for users of the Huawei MatePad 10.8. It is worth noting that this tablet was unveiled back in July 2020 and it packed EMUI 10.1 out of the box.
This beta recruitment is set to have users of this tablet sign up for early access to subsequent system updates. This could also mean that successful applicants in this recruitment will get access to EMUI 11 ahead of others.
We shall continue to keep an eye on these stories and update as and when we get more information. As such, you might want to stay tuned to our dedicated Huawei section for these and much more.
