With the ongoing global crisis that is COVID-19, many people are forced to work remotely using the various available collaboration tools. And luckily, there is no shortage of those.
Google’s own solution, Google Meet, has proven to be very instrumental and versatile seeing as it ties into Google’s ecosystem, one that boasts of millions of users with Google Accounts and Android devices. As such, it has become a favorite for many workplaces.
However, things don’t seem to be well for quite a number of OnePlus 7, 7T, 6, and 6T users. New reports from users of these OnePlus devices point to an issue that causes Google Meet to force-close when they’re using Work Profiles.
A quick search on the OnePlus Community and you’re bound to come across countless reports from frustrated users who are seeking help for this behaviour of the popular meetings app.
From the reports, the basic troubleshooting procedures including clearing all app data, reinstalling the app, even resetting the work profile doesn’t seem to be helping as the issue is persistent.
Below are more reports from affected users that we came across.
Affected users are getting a force-close notification whenever they open the Google Meet app as shown below. A number of users who have even tried resetting their affected OnePlus devices note that the issue still persists.
According to one of the users, the issue started afflicting him once he updated his OnePlus 7T Pro to the software version number 10.3.4. Could this mean that the issue was caused by an update from OnePlus?
At the time of writing, neither Google nor OnePlus has come out to acknowledge the issue despite countless reports on both the OnePlus community and Google Community, much to the frustration of affected users.
We can, therefore, only hope that this issue gets addressed soon because these are critical times for users who rely on such applications to get their work done. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update when we get more details on the same so stay tuned for that.
