Original story (published on August 17, 2020) follows:

Next month, Android 10 will have been official for a whole year. Eleven months into the OS’ life and still, there are a bunch of devices that despite being eligible for an update to it, haven’t bagged this much-anticipated update.

One such device is the Oppo K1, sold in other markets as the Oppo R15x. Launched back in October 2018, these devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and came with Android 8.1 out of the box with Oppo’s own ColorOS 5.2.

The devices have since been updated to run Android 9 Pie and have been in line for an update to Android 10 for a while now. We have also seen a few important milestones towards the unveiling of Android 10-based ColorOS 7 for this device in the recent past.

Back in late June, we saw Oppo commence the recruitment of Beta testers who wanted to take ColorOS 7 out for a spin before the official unveiling. This was followed by the initial Beta builds with the promise that ColorOS 7 would roll out to these devices in August.

True to the company’s words and right in the nick of time before attention officially shifts to Android 11 and ColorOS 8, Oppo is rolling out this much-awaited update to the Oppo K1 and the Oppo R15x.

This update that goes out to both the Oppo K1 and Oppo R15x bears software version number F.11 and brings with them all the ColorOS 7 goodness we’ve come to expect such as the addition of Dark Mode and Focus Mode among many more features.

As has been the case with previous updates from Oppo, this too will be rolling out to eligible devices as an OTA update. As such, users are advised to sit tight and wait for this update to hit their units.

We shall continue to keep an eye on this update and provide the download links for users who are keen to manually install this Android 10-based ColorOS 7 build on their Oppo K1 as soon as we get them so stay tuned for that.

With this update, the Oppo K1 and R15x have now received two major Android updates and are therefore unlikely to get updated to Android 11-based ColorOS 8. For a list of Oppo devices eligible for ColorOS 8 and their possible release dates, check out our dedicated tracker.

Update 1 (September 1)

IST: 08:16 pm: Oppo K1 has already received Android 10 stable update in China for a limited number of users.
