Xiaomi has now officially announced the release of its latest skin dubbed MIUI 12 in India. The company had previously hinted that they will be bringing a new MIUI 12 skin for India without the banned applications pre-installed.

And now, Xiaomi, via a Livestream, has finally introduced the new MIUI 12 skin for its devices in the country. Not only that, but the company also revealed its roadmap for the MIUI 12 update rollout in India.

According to the provided roadmap, the Mi 10, Redmi Note 9, Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, and Note 7 Pro should all start receiving the stable MIUI 12 this month. We’ve also shared a screenshot of the roadmap below:

Matter of fact, some of the devices listed have already received the MIUI 12 update in India, among them the Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K20, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi K20 Pro, and the Poco X2, some in beta.

Therefore, users who managed to get their hands on the latest skin already know most of what’s new. But as a refresher, here are a few highlights of the new MIUI 12 skin for Xiaomi phones.

According to Xiaomi, MIUI 12 focuses on three things: Design Refresh, Personal Features, and Productivity features. These are the key aspects of any operating system so its good to see Xiaomi double down on the important bits instead of focusing on adding unnecessary features.

MIUI 12 finally brings a built-in app drawer that can be accessed via the homescreen. It also brings a built-in Universal Casting Tool giving users the option to cast just about anything to an external display. Further, the multitasking experience has been enhanced thanks to the floating windows in MIUI 12.

Of course, there are a bunch of other features and improvements that come with the latest skin. So now we can expect to see the stable update begin rolling out for all the devices mentioned in the update roadmap.

As for other MIUI 12 eligible Xiaomi devices in India, the company will share more details of the roll out timetable via its social media channels. In the meantime, keep an eye out on our MIUI 12 update tracker to know when it arrives on your Xiaomi phone.
