[Updated] Yono SBI & Yono Lite apps are official alternatives for UPI server issue

As we reported earlier, SBI bank seems to be having trouble with their UPI servers. It’s been several days since the issue has appeared but the bank has not yet managed to fix the problem. Individuals who are trying to make UPI payments via apps such as Google Pay, PayTM, and PhonePe get an error each time they try to send a payment.

This seems to have been going on for around 6 days now and SBI, via its official Twitter account, has been telling users that its “team is on the job to receive it at the earliest.” But until the fix arrives, the bank has now begun suggesting alternative payment methods.

If you’re an SBI customer, you probably already know that the bank has its own mobile applications called Yono SBI and Yono Lite SBI. Thus, the bank is now suggesting users to transfer money via either of the two official banking applications until the UPI issue is fixed.

We regret the inconvenience caused. There are intermittent connectivity issues with our UPI Server. Please try again as our team is on the job to resolve it fully at the earliest. You may use our other digital channels like Yono SBI (Banking & Lifestyle app), Yono Lite (Mobile Banking app) & Online SBI (Internet Banking).

Of course, the Yono SBI and Yono Lite applications are by no means a complete replacement for other UPI apps such as Google Pay. But users can still transfer money to others with their bank account details. Thus, you may not have the convenience of simply entering a phone number to make payments.

But it appears that some users have managed to get UPI payments working via their SBI account. According to one user, UPI payments via the bank’s official BHIM SBI Pay application are going through. Another user claims that re-linking the bank account to their Google Pay app fixed the issue.

For now, it seems that the issue has not yet been fixed completely for everyone. Thus, we will have to wait for more user reports before making any further assumptions. Stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to know more about the SBI UPI issue.

It seems that SBI has finally managed to figure out and fix the UPI issue that was persisting for several days. The bank responded to a user’s query on Twitter regarding the UPI issue by claiming that it has now been resolved. Thus, you should now be able to make UPI transactions as usual.
