New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on August 11, 2020) follows:
While Xiaomi has initiated the second round of its MIUI 12 update rollout schedule, there are still certain concerns that the OEM has to take care of. The Government of India has banned some Chinese apps and this decision has taken a huge toll on Xiaomi.
It was reported earlier that there were still some banned apps that came pre-installed on the Poco M2 Pro but the company addressed the issue along with privacy concerns by sharing an open letter. Also, the Mi community app and website were disabled by Xiaomi as part of the ban.
Moreover, the OEM will ditch the Clean Master tool that came pre-installed as part of the Security app on all Xiaomi devices with a soft update. A notice was also issued by Poco which stated that all the banned apps will be removed in a future firmware update.
The Managing Director at Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, recently shared an elaborate letter stating that the new MIUI update will be out soon without any banned apps. Now, another tweet from Manu Kumar Jain suggests that the new MIUI version will be out in a day or two.
Not much information was shared about the update itself but it seems that the upcoming MIUI 12 update might be the one without any banned apps. Users can now take a sigh of relief as all their concerns are expected to be addressed with this update.
That being said, we will keep tracking the situation for any developments and will provide an update once more information becomes available. Meanwhile, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device.
