[Updated] AT&T & U.S. unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 9 One UI 2.1 update arrives

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was an absolute powerhouse when it launched back in August 2018. The device ran Android 8.1 out of the box and was powered by the Snapdragon 845 or the company’s own Exynos 9810 depending on the market.

Almost two years later and the device remains very relevant. While the Note 9 has already received its promised two major Android version updates, Samsung is still pushing out its updated skin, One UI to the device.

Today, users of the Galaxy Note 9 on AT&T and US unlocked variants have something to smile about as their devices are finally getting updated to the much-awaited One UI 2.1. To recall, One UI 2.1 debuted with Samsung’s flagship devices for this year, the Galaxy S20 devices.

These One UI 2.1 updates for the Galaxy Note 8 bear software version numbers ETG3 and ETG1 for the US unlocked and the AT&T variant of the same respectively. They both bring the latest July 2020 security patch.

It is nice to see these two devices finally get updated as many other variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 have already been updated to One UI 2.1. These include the US Cellular and Verizon models, Sprint and T-Mobile in the US.

Earlier, we saw the Galaxy Note 9 bag the One UI 2.1 update in Europe with the June security patch and the Canadian variant of the same got updated in late June.

It now appears the unlocked T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 9 units have also begun picking up the One UI 2.1 update in the U.S. This new update brings the build number ETG3 and is rolling out via an OTA package. See the full story here.
