At this point, we are right at the advent of Android 11. Already, we have seen the next build of Android hit key milestones towards its stable release that is scheduled within the next few months.
Even with that, there still are a good number of devices that despite being eligible for an update to Android 10, the respective OEMs are yet to oblige. One such device is the Oppo R15 Pro.
This device which is sold in China as the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition was first unveiled in April 2018 running Android 8.1 Oreo with the company’s ColorOS 5. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, a solid mid-range chip back then that is slightly outdated today.
Currently, this device runs Android 9 Pie, and as mentioned, it is in line for an update to Android 10. On July 18, we saw the commencement of recruitment for Beta testers for ColorOS 7 (Android 10) for Oppo R15 Pro.
Fast-forward to today and Oppo is finally rolling out Android 10 to the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition in its home country, China. This update brings ColorOS 7 and all its features and changes. This update can be identified by its software version number F.16.
This update is rolling out to the eligible devices as an OTA and more specifically, R15 Dream Mirror Edition devices that have been upgraded to software version C.68.
To recall, initial reports indicated that the R15 Dream Mirror Edition would get this ColorOS 7 update on July 25th but that rolls out today, July 27. The same reports hinted towards a July 28 release of ColorOS 7 for the Global variant, the Oppo R15 Pro and that remains to be seen.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this rollout and update as and when we get more info on the same.
