Xiaomi Mi A3 bags new Android 10-based July security update on global units (Download link inside)

The Xiaomi Mi A3 is the third generation of Android One-powered devices from the Chinese OEM whose other devices run the company’s own MIUI skin on top of Android. The device offers users a clean, unadulterated version of Android, a stuck contrast from what Xiaomi is known for.

The Mi A3 hasn’t been without its fair share of drama. The rollout of Android 10 for this device was a little less than elegant and every update since has been meant to fix something that is broken in the new build of Android. From the camera’s Pro Mode shutter speed bug to random reboots and fingerprint scanner glitches among other issues.

For the most part, many of these issues seem to have been addressed and today, Xiaomi is rolling out the latest security update to the Mi A3. This update brings the July security patch. To recall, we already saw this device bag the July patch. However, that update was quickly pulled and a Public Service Announcement issued, warning users not to install the update with software version V11.0.3.0.QFQMXTC.

This new July patch bears software version number V.11.0.19.0.QFQMIXM and is going out to users running the June patch with version V11.0.16.0.QFQMIXM (those who didn’t update to the buggy July patch). This Mi A3 update weighs in at 226MB. The changelog is the generic one we see with most security patches.

It remains unclear what will happen to users who updated their devices to firmware V11.0.17.0 QFQMIXM, the patched-up version that was pushed to the faulty version V11.0.3.0.QFQMXTC. We shall keep an eye on this and update accordingly.
