Realme C3 Android 10 bootloader unlock officially available now, here's a quick how-to guide

Realme is encouraging third-party development as the OEM has shared a tutorial to unlock the bootloader of Realme C3 officially. The company has also provided the Android 10 kernel source code for Realme C3 so that developers can start working on custom ROMs.

However, it must be noted that after officially unlocking the Realme C3 bootloader, Widevine L1 will be replaced by Widevine L3. This means that HD streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and more platforms will be unavailable.

Bootloader Unlock

Before starting the procedure, make sure that you take a complete backup of your device and charge it up to 60%. A USB cable and a laptop/PC will be required for the procedure. You can download the official Realme C3 unlock tool from the link give below.

Once you have taken care of all the pre-requisites, you can go ahead with the bootloader unlocking procedure for Realme C3, below.

Step 1

You need to install the unlock tool apk on your device and tap on “Start applying“. After that, read the disclaimer and check “I have read and agreed to the aforesaid content” and tap on “Submit Application“.

Realme servers will check the submitted application and once the Review Successful message appears on the unlock tool, you need to select the “Start the in-depth test” option and your device will automatically reboot.

Once Step 1 is completed, Fastboot tool needs to be installed on your PC (Linux, Windows, or Mac). After that, connect your device to the PC with a USB cable.

Follow instructions given below in the Fastboot mode:

– Type the command:
adb reboot bootloader
– Hit “Enter” on the keyboard

– Type the command:
fastboot flashing unlock
– Hit “Enter” on the keyboard

A screen will appear on your device where you’ll have to use the Volume keys to navigate and select the “UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER” option by pressing the Power button.

Now, your phone will reboot and enter the in-depth test mode. That’s about it. The bootloader of your Realme C3 will be unlocked and you can go ahead with rooting and installing custom ROMs, etc.
