Attention in the Android community is slowly but steadily moving to the next version of Android set to launch in the next few months.

Even as that happens, some devices that were set to receive updates to Android 10 are yet to get these much-awaited builds. One such device is the Vivo V11 Pro. While the device has been receiving regular updates, Android 10 has proved rather elusive.

Back in April, we got reports that Vivo wasn’t planning to roll out Android 10 to the Vivo V11 Pro. Unofficial reports later hinted to an August release of Android 10 for this device.

Later in June, we got official confirmation that indeed, the device would get updated to Android 10 after all. Since then, users have been on edge, asking Vivo to shed more light on the timelines for Android 10.

Today, we have some more information that hints to a late August or early September commencement of the Greyscale test of Android 10 for the Vivo V11 Pro.

“Thanks for your support. We will start the grayscale test of Android 10 for V11 Pro late in August or early in September if there is no accident. There are still some tests no finished yet due to COVID-19. Hope for your understanding.”

A Greyscale test is a limited rollout of a finished software to random users, usually Beta testers before a wider rollout. This is often done to minimize damage in the chance that the update contains serious bugs.

As the company confirmed that the Vivo V11 Pro would get updated to Android 10, this new development only goes to put a clock on this so users should sit tight and look forward to that update sometime after September.

Update 1 (August 12)

It seems that Vivo has silently released the Android 10 update alongside Funtouch OS 10 for the Vivo V11 Pro in India. This new update comes as version 8.7.11 with a download size of 3.29GB. Apparently, the update is currently available for a limited number of users only. See the full story here.
