Original story (published on July 16, 2020) follows:

Honor Play 4T Pro was launched along with Honor Play 4T in an online event in April. The devices have been well received by users. But for some reason, the latter runs Magic UI 3.1 out of the box while the former comes pre-installed with Android 9 Pie-based Magic UI 2.1.

Magic UI 3.1, the custom skin from Honor, is due to hit Honor Play 4T Pro. According to official communication, beta testing for the same will begin by July-end as Huawei is planning to release its own custom skin to many of its devices.

With a Kirin 810 SoC and a 4,000mAh battery, the device comes in 128GB/6GB and 128GB/8GB memory configurations. It sports a 6.3 inch OLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels.

The smartphone also offers a triple camera setup which includes a 48 MP wide (main) camera, 8 MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2 MP depth assist camera. All in all, it’s no less than a flagship device offered at a mid-range price.

Android 10 is the latest stable release of the most widely used mobile operating system from Google and Honor Play 4T Pro is yet to receive it along with Magic UI 3.1. The announcement of Magic UI 3.1 beta testing means that a stable update may hit the Honor Play 4T Pro soon.

Many Huawei and Honor devices are already running Android 10, be it with Magic UI 3.0, EMUI 10.0, or their newer versions. However, not all devices will receive the latest Android OS update simply because they don’t meet the requirements.

Honor Play 4T Pro is not among those devices because it’s new and packs the benchmark hardware that makes it more than capable of running Android 10. So, if you are waiting for the Android 10-based Magic UI 3.1 update, be sure to check out our Honor Android 10 update tracker here.

Update 1 (July 22)

According to reports, it appears that Huawei is beginning the Public Beta testing program for the Honor Play 4T Pro. Further, the Honor Play 9A is also going to be part of the Public Beta test for the Magic UI 3.1 update. See all the details here.
