[Updated] Vivo Z1X & Z1 Pro Android 10 (Funtouch OS 10) update-triggered fast battery drain issue surfaces

It is always exciting to receive a new update on your device. The thought that your device just got better through feature additions or even regular security updates is a gift that keeps on giving.

However, sometimes these updates can come with unexpected ‘guests’ in form of bugs which can be detrimental to your whole smartphone experience. That is the predicament that Vivo Z1X and Vivo Z1 Pro are finding themselves in.

On June 12, Vivo started pushing out Android 10-based Funtouch OS to the Vivo Z1X. Not to be left out for too long, Android 10-based Funtouch OS 10 update finally started rolling out to the Vivo Z1 Pro on July 10.

These much-awaited updates to Android 10 have not been without their fair share of issues. According to countless reports by users on Twitter, the update to Funtouch OS 10 for these Vivo devices has caused their devices to quickly drain the battery.

Some users of the Vivo Z1 Pro are also reporting inferior fast-charging speeds after the update. Here are just a few of the reports that we came across.

Users of the Vivo Z1X are not spared either. Many of them are reporting similar battery drain issues after the update to Funtouch OS 10. However, some are also reporting issues to do with RAM management, choppy animations and a glitchy launcher after this update. Here are some of these reports.

Vivo is yet to issue an official acknowledgment of this battery drain issue or a possible workaround for this problem, much to the frustration of the affected users. Seeing just how widespread this issue is, it’d be best for Vivo to address it as soon as possible.

IST 06:58 pm: It seems that Vivo has re-released the stable Android 10 update for the Vivo Z1Pro. The update is rolling out as version 6.10.5 and weighs in at 144.72 MBs for users who are already on Android 10 and 3.1GB for users coming from Android 9 Pie. For more details, head here.
