The Mi A series from Xiaomi is the only one from the OEM to run on stock Android courtesy of the Android One program. The main goal behind Android One is to deliver an up to date and easy to use experience. However, this is far from the truth for Xiaomi’s Mi A series devices.

Xiaomi’s Mi A2 released back in 2018 and it came with Android 8.1 pre-loaded. Since then, the device has received two major Android updates and is now running Android 10. Most OEMs push only two major Android updates for their smartphones.

However, since the Mi A2 is part of the Android One program, users have been keen to see the device get yet another OS update. And to seek a response from Xiaomi, a user took to the Mi community asking whether or not the Xiaomi Mi A2 will get the Android 11 update.

Unfortunately, it seems that there will be no new major Android updates for the device. This information comes from a response by a Mi community moderator who made the following statement:

Dear user,
No, Mi A2 already got 2 major Android Upgrades which is Android 9[Pie] and Android 10.
Thanks

Hence, it’s now confirmed that Xiaomi Mi A2 users will not be getting the Android 11 update. This is a major disappointment to users since the main purpose of purchasing an Android One smartphone is to receive the latest updates quicker and for longer.

We recently also reported that the Redmi Note 8 Pro might also not receive the Android 11 update. So it seems Xiaomi is not ready to extend its support for devices for a longer period.

Nonetheless, there are a few devices from the company that will be receiving the upcoming Android version. You can check out our Xiaomi Android 11 update tracker to know when and if your device will be receiving it.
