Original story (published on July 06, 2020) follows:
Xiaomi isn’t necessarily known for providing timely Android updates. The company’s flagships do receive at least two major Android versions. However, most mid-range and budget offerings from Xiaomi usually only receive one major Android update and few major MIUI versions.
Speaking of budget smartphones, the Redmi 8A Dual was announced in February 2020. It packs in some decent specifications for the price including the Snapdragon 439 SoC paired with 2GB or
3GB RAM. Sadly, it still runs on Android 9 Pie which at this point is almost 2 years old.
Moreover, the device is yet to receive the MIUI 12 update as it is on the list of supported devices for the latest skin from Xiaomi. For further details on it, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker.
Just a few days ago we reported that the company is testing the Android 10 update for the Redmi 8, 8A & Redmi Note 8.
Needless to say, Redmi 8A Dual users are now beginning to ask when will the stable Android 10 update be released. Thankfully, a Mi Community moderator has shed some light on the matter in response to a user’s question asking about the update. Check out the moderator’s response to this below:
Dear user,
Yes, No ETA for it. Update will be provided when its ready. Stay tuned on mi global community for further info
Thanks
This confirms that the Android 10 update will be arriving for the Redmi 8A Dual. However, the lack of an ETA means that it could take anywhere between a few weeks or even a few months. Nonetheless, there is a possibility that it will arrive along with the update for other Redmi 8 series devices.
You can also check out our Xiaomi Android 10 update tracker to know which devices will be receiving it. As usual, stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to be in the loop regarding the update status for the device.
