This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on July 4) follows:
Asus is prepping the Android 10 stable update for the ZenFone Max Pro M2. The OEM’s Android 10 beta testing for the device is currently underway, and it goes without saying, beta does come with its fair share of bugs. So encountering problems is expected, after all, the beta is to iron out such issues.
It now seems like Asus has got a lot of work on their hands given the number of bugs being reported. I won’t be surprised if the stable Android 10 update gets pushed to a later date. Which at this point is already way past its expected rollout.
Nonetheless, we’ve rounded up some of the known issues that have been reported with the beta update and shared them below alongside the current situation.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 Android 10 beta issues
Audio issue
Users are reporting that the audio quality isn’t up to the mark. One user has even gone as far as suggesting Asus bring Dolby Atmos support to improve the audio quality.
the audio from headphone is not good as pie plz provide asus Dolby so that we can adjust bass and equalizer
An Asus mod has stated that the issue is under investigation in response to the user complaint. Users will be updated once there is more information from the development team on the issue.
Moreover, the same mod also claimed that the low volume issue and headphone audio quality will be fixed and improved respectively in a future update. Unfortunately, there’s no timeline on when users can expect the update.
Related to the audio issues, we’ve also covered the PUBG Mobile sound quality issues on the device.
Notification panel issue
In the list of bugs, the user has also mentioned the notification panel bug. According to the user, WhatsApp opens up in the background after tapping on a notification from the app. However, the notification panel does not close.
The Asus mod confirms that this is a known issue and it is “under investigation”. Thus, a fix for the problem might be released in a subsequent update. Furthermore, the same user also reported another problem with how notifications work on the device.
Notification bug when ever i am playing clash of clan and message come in whatsapp the notification bar does not slide up further it happen all the time with other apps to the notification slide do not go up by it’s own like message notification also do the same thing but when we are in home screen and not using any app the notification panel slide it self up when we click on notification.

In response to this issue, the Asus mod also revealed that this problem is confirmed to be a “Google Behavior”.
No rounded corner on screen
It also appears that there is a software bug that prevents the screen from having rounded corners. Therefore, the content on the corners of the screen appears to be uneven. Furthermore, a similar issue was also reported on the ZenFone Max Pro M1. So it seems Asus will have to fix the problem on both smartphones.
The mod claims that this issue is also under investigation. Hence, a fix can be expected once the development team finds the root of the problem.
Screen brightness issue
According to the user, the max brightness has been reduced when compared to Android 9 Pie. Asus isn’t the only OEM that has issues with screen brightness on Android 10. Earlier, we reported on the OnePlus 7/7 Pro automatic brightness glitches. However, it seems that the problem on the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 isn’t all that bad.
In response to the complaint, the mod claims the brightness curve is designed differently from Android Pie. Hence, the brightness is not lower. Users simply have to bring up the slider higher.
Slow-mo video recording missing
In the list of issues, some users also mention the absence of slow-mo video recording on the device. Earlier, we covered the missing slow-mo video recording option on the device. And hardware limitations may be the reason for that. So don’t expect to see the slow-mo option make its way over to the Max Pro M2 in the future.
Well, now that the bugs and issues have been reported, users will have to wait for future updates to receive fixes for these bugs. Of course, not all bugs will be fixed via a single update. However, we do expect to see fixes for bugs that have been acknowledged and are under investigation.
Update 1 (July 5)
The stable update to Android 10 for the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will not be bringing in Native Video calling features. Head here for more details.
Update 2 (August 28)
While Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is running on Android 9 Pie, there are some users who willingly chose to update their devices to the Android 10 beta 3 update. This update resulted in breaking the earphone sound quality with no bass.
A ZenTalk forum moderator has recently confirmed that an update fixing the issue will soon be made available to the affected users. Read full story here.
Update 3 (September 28)
Apparently, the audio issues on the ZenFone Max Pro M2 on the Android 10 beta have still not been fixed with the beta 3 update. According to a mod, a fix for the problem is in the works and will come with upcoming updates. See the full story here.
