After delaying the June 3 Android 11 Beta 1 launch event, Google released the update a few days ago for all of its Pixel devices. It didn’t take too much time for other OEMs to make the Android 11 Beta 1 update available for their phones.

OnePlus was at the forefront and started delivering the update for its OnePlus 8 series. Later, Xiaomi also announced that the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro will be getting the Android 11 beta 1 update soon. Poco also conveyed the same for the Poco F2 Pro via an official post.

However, the post did not come with an ETA as to when the update will be made available by Xiaomi for the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. But, as per a recent post on the official Mi community forum, the Mi 10 Android 11 beta 1 update is now live.

There is a catch though. Users have to manually install the Xiaomi Mi 10 Android 11 beta 1 update on their phones, as it will not be pushed via OTA for the handset. Here is what the official post reads:

Steps to flash Mi 10 Android 11 Beta 1 update

Make sure that you have downloaded the required files for this procedure from the download section mentioned below:

• Xiaomi Mi 10
  • Android 11 Beta 1 firmware
• Xiaomi USB driver
• Mi Flashtool
• ADB and Fastboot Tool

Here are the instructions to manually flash Android 11 Beta 1 update on your Xiaomi Mi 10:

1. Download and extract the Mi Flash tool and ADB tool on your PC from the links given above.
2. Now reboot your phone into Download Mode by turning the phone off and pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
3. Then connect your Mi 10 phone to the PC via a USB cable.
4. Download the firmware file from the given link and extract it. You need to remember the extract location as you have to enter the location in the Mi Flash tool.
5. Open the Mi Flash tool and in the address bar of the tool, enter the firmware extract location (as mentioned in step 4).
6. Hit the Refresh button to make the tool recognize your device.
7. Press Run within the Mi Flash tool to begin the installation procedure.
8. That’s it!

As this Mi 10 Android 11 ROM is in the beta stage, you should expect bugs and glitches. So, it is advised that you go ahead only if you are okay with such bugs, and even if you decide to go for the installation, make sure to take a complete backup of your data.

For those who didn’t want the hassle of manually installing Android 11 beta 1 on their Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro units, the airborne (OTA) update is now rolling out as MIUI 12 beta 20.6.28. Like the previous version 20.6.14, this is still limited software that isn’t fit for use as a daily driver.
